Welcome to Vermillion High School

Students at Vermillion High School are able to select from a wide variety of  course offerings at varied skill levels. In addition to core subjects, honors or advanced placement courses are available in English, Math, Science and Social Sciences. Our students become college and career ready through access to our diverse course offerings and comprehensive Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs featuring pathways in Architecture and Construction, Arts, A/V Technology and Communication, Business Management and Administration, Hospitality and Tourism, Human Services, Manufacturing and Education and Training. 

  • Fine Arts: Many opportunities are available to students in band, chorus, theater/drama, and art.  Many  performances and contest experiences are offered.
  • World Languages offered: Spanish and German,
  • Oral interpretation and debate programs, 
  • Yearbook, 
  • Technology: Every classroom has a Promethean board for instructor and student use. All students have Chromebooks for regular access to Google Classroom and other cloud computing environments,  
  • Offerings in CTE (Career and Technical Education), welding, building trades, and small engine repair, infant and child development, culinary arts, business applications, accounting, entrepreneurship, marketing, and graphic design, and photography. 
  • Student Organizations: Student Council, National Honor Society, Native American Student Association, National Speech & Debate Association, Random Acts of Kindness Club and SADD,
  • Sports Programs: School-sponsored boy’s and girl’s tennis, golf, basketball, soccer, cross-country, track, and wrestling, boy’s football; girl’s volleyball, softball and gymnastics; and club baseball and bowling and Special Olympics,
  • Two gymnasiums for varsity and sub-varsity volleyball, basketball and wrestling events, complete gymnastics facility, 700+ seat theater for musical and theatrical performances, on-site track and football field for sub-varsity events and soccer. Football games are played indoors at USD’s Dakotadome and home tennis and track events are held at USD facilities.
